Itinerary
Day-1 - Istanbul to Adiyaman - (D)
We will meet you at your istanbul hotel and transfer you to domestic airport and put you on a 1 hour 40 minute flight down to Adiyaman. After arrival we will check in the hotel and overnight stay in Adiyaman - Kahta.
Day-2 - Nemrut Tour then evening flight back Istanbul - (B/L)
Around 03:00 am in the morning we will start our tour and drive up to Nemrut Mountain and then we will watch the sunrise on Mount Nemrut, the postcard setting for the amazing statues at the Commagene Temple. In this area we will visit the capital of the Commagene Kingdom; Arsaemia; a tumulus on Karakus Hill and Cendere Bridge,
Nemrut : The mountain lies (25 mi) north of Kahta, near Adıyaman. In 62 BC, King Antiochus I Theos of Commagene built on the mountain top a tomb-sanctuary flanked by huge statues (26–30 ft high) of himself, two lions, two eagles and various Greek, and Armenian gods, such as Hercules-Vahagn, Zeus-Aramazd or Oromasdes (associated with the Iranic god Ahura Mazda), Tyche, and Apollo-Mithras. These statues were once seated, with names of each god inscribed on them.
The heads of the statues are now scattered throughout the site; the pattern of damage to the heads (notably to noses) suggests that they were deliberately damaged because of belief in iconoclasm. The statues have not been restored to their original positions. The site also preserves stone slabs with bas-relief figures that are thought to have formed a large frieze. These slabs display the ancestors of Antiochus, who included both Macedonians and Persians.
After the tour we will transfer you to Adiyaman Airport and put you on a 1 hour 45 minute flight back to Istanbul.
After arrival we will transfer you to your hotel in Istanbul. tour ends
